I was speaking to Tanja this morning, who books our gutter cleans and pressure washes for customers, and she made some good points to me about actually why roof pressure washes are a good idea. I want to share some of this useful info with you.
Why pressure wash your roof?
Moss, algea and other growths are commonly seen on many roofs. Look harmless, if a bit unsightly. But like all trees and plants, they grow into the crevices of surfaces, meaning into and under your tiles, leading towards weakening and actually cracking them after a time.
Insulation. It's an uncommon thought, but a roof which is clean will reflect heat better in the warmer months and retain heat better in the cooler months because there aren't interfering objects, fungus or dirt layers present.
Gutter Blockages. A dirty roof, when all that accumulated dust, dirt or plant matter ventures downwards during rain, inevitably winds up in the gutters and downpipes, creating blockages.
Appearances and Longevity. It's a no-brainer that a clean roof just looks good! But a clean roof will also last longer from lack of corrosive elements being present there all the time.
Like anything, it's a lot cheaper to simply maintain something rather than have to replace it once it deteriorates too much. Hence why pressure washes are a good idea. I hope this info is useful to you. Let us know if you need anything.
